There has been N7 Day recently and I suddenly got a feeling to paint this, as a contribution for the event and as well to thank BioWare for making such epic game and trilogy. Also, a tribute for Commander Shepard. I play femShep, Jennifer Hale's voiceacting is just too epic to not to play. Also this time I wanted to go for default femShep, although this reminds me more of my own character... because of similiar looks. I know, there are people who don't like the ending. I was one of those few people who liked this. I never hoped for happy ending, it would be too unreal. The choices we got, were hard... To destroy the Reapers, but also murder Geth and EDI, but get Shepard to survive... Or kill Shepard and choose Synergy. I never considered to control Reapers, never. But... I liked it. Also, after the ending many people still continue to have head-cannon. I just wanted to paint a scene, where Shepard survived, barely standing, but never giving up. I won't tell much - it's for you to think more about it, where Shepard actually is. Maybe her love interest just found her or her crew, or maybe is she trying to move on to get to somewhere... It's up to your interpretation. I just hope you like it. It was supposed to be finished in the same day, on November 7th... but I ironically got an issue with the game. Got the infamous 'required online pass issue' which got me devastated for the whole time... Then next day I had also to work, so no time and in the night they managed to fix it, which saved my life, ehehe. So, it's finally finished. Sorry for the delay but I hope you like it. I'm actually very pleased with this artwork, I even dare to say it's the best one I've did so far... I like it. For BioWare - thank you. Thank you for creating such epic games, universes, stories, characters... I first got SW:KotOR when I was young - I could barely speak English... but I played... all the time. This was one of the few games which introduced me actually to the gaming world and kept me within... But Mass Effect is a blast. Thank you for giving us the chance to experience such great adventure.
I agree with you, about your feelings on Mass Effect and Bioware, I liked the endings too, all of them, well I would like to see a happy ending but I understand why they didn't, because as you said, it would be unreal (but still my heart wants to see Shepard and all the crew together at the end ) I thank Bioware as well for this terrific game. ME is my favourite game ever and it will always stay that way Even if some people didn't like the last game, I think it is a great closure to the series and those DLCs; they're amazing, I can't remember laughing this much for a long time while playing the Citadel DLC Thank you again Bioware for all your hard work
I didn't say anything about your work, sorry, it is very good really, even if she doesn't look like my Shepard, You have added every detail; the dog tags, the sleeves of the armor, good work... I chose every ending just to see what happens with every one of them but honestly I cannot destroy EDI and the Geth because they are Legion's legacy and Legion is one my favourite character so I go for either control or synthesis options every time
Is it bad that my first thought when I read your title was "BUT IS SHE DOING SCIENCE?!?!"XD
I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now. Even though you broke my heart. And killed me. And tore me to pieces. And threw every piece into a fire. As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
I don't know what to say that others haven't already said... This piece is amazing. Yes, she has survived. But it is not a rise of glory and virtue when she extracts herself from the rubble ; exactly how I saw it when I knew I survived. The details and your technique is amazing. I love her face as well.
Incredible picture. The detail and the emotion conveyed is very impressive.
I have a bit of a problem with something in your description, and it's something that I will refuse to argue. Overall people weren't expecting a happy ending. They expected one that made sense, that didn't contradicted every decision you made from the previous games, all the information and lore that you found in the previous games, and especially one without The Catalyst (or any similar Deus Ex Machina). Myself included.
I've grown to tolerate the endings despite their flaws, and I appreciate the Extended Cut, since despite the arrogant message we got from the developers regarding their artistic integrity, they did at least realize some of the serious mistakes they made. That doesn't mean the endings are better in my eyes. I still agree with the points being made regarding the Control and Synthesis endings where these outcomes are what the Reapers wanted all along and go against everything that Shepard stands for. Out of all the inconsistencies, Destroy and the new ending, Refusal, at least keep the integrity of the main character in tact.
I'm not willing to argue my feelings on the matter because I respect the fact that you like the endings and am not trying to change how you feel about it. I just feel I had to communicate what I feel is the reason as to why most people had problems with it and why I had problems with it. I have actually seen very few comments in the massive internet media that say they wanted a happy ending. Most hated the idea of the Catalyst and what he represented.
Yeah, we already know people selectively percieved facts to fit their conclusions wraught of grief in this issue. The fact that the most popular story mod for Mass Effect is one that provides the trilogy with a happy ending irrespective of how many plot holes (a whole lot) it has to violently tear open is indicative.
But there were legitimate grievances too. Most were fixed, others the forgivable sort that other classic games have done far worse in their time (FFVII's horrid translation didn't stop it from being a classic of it's time, why would the fact that you don't see all the slides you earned in ME3?)

Amazing job !
And I totally agree with u, the ending just blew my mind. After finishing the ME3 I spent the rest of the day staring somewhere with my mouth open.
